The first main difference between a chapathi and jalebi is that a chapathi is a form of roti (bread). While roti refers to any flat unleavened bread, chapati is a roti made of whole wheat flour and cooked on a tava (flat skillet). A jalebi is made by deep-frying batter in a kind of pretzel shape then soaked in syrup.
This is the recipe for the chapati
three cups of Fine wholemeal flour or roti flour
one and a half teaspoon of Salt
one tablespoon of Ghee or oil
one cup Lukewarm water
the recipe for jalabi:
two cups of self raising flour
half tablespoon of baking powder
vegetable or sunflower cooking oil for deep frying
one cup of sugar
a few strands of saffron
one quarter tablespoon of cardamom powder
two drops of orange food colouring
and finally....
two tablespoon of rose water
